How did you get here?
I began my career in higher education at UC Riverside, where I spent nearly a decade helping students navigate career development and pursue meaningful opportunities. I then drove more than 3,000 miles across the country to join UNC Chapel Hill as a Career Counselor.
During my 12 years in North Carolina, I grew from a strong practitioner into a leader, taking on roles that focused on career services strategy, staff development, and organizational leadership. Along the way, I remained actively engaged in the profession through conference presentations, leadership roles in regional and national associations, and most recently serving as Program Chair for the 2025 Global Career Services Summit in Belfast.
When the opportunity to join UC Berkeley arose, I saw it as the perfect chance to return home to California while continuing to grow professionally in an innovative and student-centered environment. My journey has taught me that no matter where your career takes you, there are always new opportunities to learn, lead, and thrive.
Who do you work with? What’s cool about your job?
One of the things I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people across campus. No two days are ever the same, and I love being able to build meaningful connections across so many different areas of the university. What’s especially rewarding is that my work allows me to support growth on multiple levels. I have the opportunity to help students explore their goals, develop professionally, and prepare for their futures, while also mentoring and developing staff as they build new skills and grow into their next professional opportunities. Seeing people gain confidence, discover new possibilities, and succeed in ways they may not have imagined is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.
What’s the best career advice anyone has given you?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was: don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Growth comes from experience, and every challenge or setback presents an opportunity to learn.I’ve found that one of the most important habits is taking time to reflect by asking yourself, “What did I learn from this experience, and what would I do differently next time?” That mindset helps turn both successes and failures into opportunities for growth, resilience, and continuous development.
Interests/Hobbies
Both personally and professionally, I’m energized by opportunities to learn, evolve, and push myself in new directions. These days, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and proudly embracing my newest and favorite title: Grandma. I love exploring the outdoors and visiting National Park Service sites, whether that means wandering through a new city on foot or discovering scenic trails by bike. I’m also a lifelong baseball fan — especially of the San Francisco Giants — and I make it a goal to visit a new ballpark each year. At home, I enjoy quilting, cooking, baking, and bringing people together through food and conversation. Whether in my career or personal life, I value curiosity, connection, and continued growth, and I’m always looking forward to the next adventure.
